Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The weather hasn't shut everything down, but it put a heavy delay on what many shoppers look forward to the day after Christmas: shopping. West Acres Mall pushed back opening its doors 3 hours later than scheduled because of the blizzard.

Mall officials say they were thinking about people safety when deciding what time to open today. The malls General Manager says he wanted to give store's employee's plenty of time to get to work and have things open.

He talked to the Highway Patrol for judgment to better know when people could be moving around. He says for them, its better the storm hit after Christmas rather than before.

ā€œIā€™d say for a non-holiday, Saturday is still a very good day, but a Saturday before the holidays it doesn't compare.ā€

Papachek says historically people think of the day after Christmas for returns and exchanges, but he says it's actually a big spending day and expects the mall will be busy this weekend into next week.
