Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A snowstorm on Christmas wasn't in anyone's plans. So before it gets really bad, many people scrambled to grocery stores, stocking up on food for a modified holiday. Summer Sandness should be packing her bags, getting ready for her trip to Minot to spend Christmas with family. Thanks to the incoming snowstorm, her entire holiday schedule has been re-arranged.

“It’s, I wouldn't say gut-wrenching, but it's heartbreaking.”

To get ready for her snowed in holiday, she's shopping with her four-year old son Dorean, picking up all his favorites. Whether they're staying home, or braving the storm, shoppers are picking up all the essentials they'll need for a happy holiday.

“Some shrimp, and prime rib, and dessert, and all the goodies.”

Lois Peldo is crossing her fingers for the weather to hold, so her whole family can be here to celebrate.

“It says in to Christmas day, and my daughter is supposed to come Christmas day, so we're hoping.”

Laurie Kennedy's also hoping for the best, her plans are to celebrate Christmas in Valley City. In the mean time, she's getting shopping done just in case.

“I don't know, my husband seems to think it's going to be bad, but we'll see, I guess we don't know for sure.”

But shoppers like summer plan to play it safe.

“Rather just be home and safe, than on the road, stuck somewhere.”

She's inviting over friends, who are stuck in town, and making the best out of this snowed-in Christmas.

“Doing our own Christmas celebration, A.K.A blizzard party, depending on what happens with this storm.”

One way or another, she plans to have a merry, very white, Christmas. Most grocery stores will be open tomorrow, but only until around five o'clock.
