Shoppers out in full force to finish their holiday shopping

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The clock is ticking; people are running out of time to pick up Christmas gifts. It's obvious; shoppers are out in full force at places like West Acres Mall. Mall officials say almost every year the weekend before Christmas is one of the busiest and today is no different; people are packing the stores trying to finish up that last minute shopping.

"I was pleasantly surprised with my parking spot that's usually the worst part is trying to find a spot to park."

Shoppers are fighting long lines and busy walkways. Some are on their last shopping spree before Christmas, filling in their final odds and ends, others are just warming up.

"Oh we'll probably pace ourselves were not going all out so you know we'll do a little bit here and there so hopefully get it done by Wednesday."

"I usually plan things pretty well and start early so get coupons and what not"

"It's very unusual for me, but my husband and I decided last minute to do some stocking stuffers for each other so here I am."

Whatever the reason for being here, everyone says the best part is the social aspect, all of the people out sharing the Christmas spirit.

"The music, the atmosphere, it's a really nice size mall to, we're really enjoying it."

"When we're in line, everybody is polite and helping each other, so it is fun to see the crowds."

Mall officials say weather permitting, this week should remain busy and with Christmas falling on Friday they're expecting a huge turnout Saturday morning. Mall officials say this year's weekend before Christmas is around 5 percent busier than last years.
