Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - They may be little, but their hearts are huge. First graders at Park Christian have dipped in to their own pockets, and piggy banks to help feed families in need.

The 19 students in Kathy Johnson's class came up with the idea themselves, raising more than 300 dollars. With it, they bought 10 animals from world vision, an organization that helps families in need.

Students don't know where the two goats, one sheep, two chickens and five ducks will go, or who they will help.

“They can use milk from the goats, or eggs from the chickens and we're hoping and praying that they'll have babies and multiply that blessing.”

Johnson says the kids love to give, they even bought her flowers today for her birthday, a dozen red roses.
