Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A deadly intersection in Clay County has claimed another life. It happened this afternoon, shortly after two o'clock on Highway 75 and County Road 12, or the convent road.

Police tell us the semi was traveling at a normal highway speed, when apparently the other car pulled out in front of it and was sideswiped. When the semi smashed in to the car, it pushed it about half a city block, thru a ditch and into a nearby field.

It took clean up crews a while to get the mangled car detached from the front end of the semi. The driver of the car, Krista McCleary, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the semi has no injuries.

Police are still trying to determine who is at fault. They say now, more than ever it's important for people to be careful when they're on the road.

“Especially when you get to a stop sign, we've told people that you know, please look both ways twice, and don’t take one quick look. Sometimes we just get things on our minds, and we don't things without really things.”

This intersection has been a hot-spot for accidents, and it's exactly where the county is planning to put in a roundabout, to hopefully bring down those numbers. Over the past 20 years, the intersection has been responsible for six fatalities, and about 40 crashes.
