BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says scam artists posing as state crime bureau agents are telephoning North Dakotans and offering to remove criminal charges for $500.
Stenehjem says it is a ridiculous scam but he wants to warn state residents so that no one is unwittingly tricked out of money.
He says the goal of the scam artists is to get unwary consumers to reveal personal information such as a Social Security or credit card number.
