GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Grand Forks-based Altru Health System is ending two of its seven Home Services programs.
The services in the North Dakota town of Mayville and the Minnesota community of Karlstad will end at the end of the month.
Altru Home Services provides home care, hospice, grief therapy, respiratory care and home medical equipment. Most patients are homebound, and employees provide nursing services and other care that enable the patients to stay in their homes.
Joyce Simmons, Altru's manager of home care and hospice, says the demand for the services has decreased in Mayville and Karlstad. She says the downturn in the economy and low Medicare reimbursement rates also were factors.
Altru will maintain Home Services programs in Park River, Grafton, Cavalier, McVille, and in Warren, Minn.
