ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Voters in northern Minnesota have narrowly approved a $78 million school construction plan.

The St. Louis County school district will close four aging schools and building two new ones.

Minnesota Public Radio reports the vote was close with 52 percent of voters favoring the restructuring.

School district officials say it will keep the district solvent by addressing excess building capacity. Schools in the towns of Cook, Orr, Cotton and AlBrook will close and be replaced with two new buildings.
