Glyndon, MN (WDAY TV) - A rural Glyndon, Minnesota man says he learned a hard lesson while trying to get in one last fishing trip before the lakes froze up. Mike Huber had to be rescued from Little Pine Lake near Perham after his boat motor quit, leaving him surrounded by a lake that had just frozen over.
Besides being a talented home remodeler and house flipper, Mike Huber has another passion and addiction. He lives for walleye fishing, studying them and competing in tournaments to catch them.
Mike fished for awhile, and then started his boat motor which ran, but would not go into gear. More than 20 firefighters came on scene, wearing special rescue suits
They walked out 200 yards to mike. Finally, a rescue complete, the boat and the angler brought to shore. Humbled and embarrassed, Mike says he can't thank his rescuers enough. And the 7-8 lb walleyes, they're still there.
