Bruins open with a pair of wins out west

(WDAY Sports) - It's almost like the state tournament was last week if you watched the South girl’s basketball team over the weekend. The Bruins opened with a pair of wins out west, including a victory over top ranked Bismarck Century.

The second ranked Bruins say they're still stinging from last year's state title game loss to Bismarck, their only loss of the season.

“We’ve got three returning starters that were part of this group and they took that loss pretty hard and if we can use that to our advantage we're going to use it.”

“We know it's like a new team and everything but the girls that have to use that as motivation it's going to be in the back of their mind.”

Bruins home opener is Thursday night against Moorhead.
