FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The Fargo Fire Department's hazardous materials team responded to a building on the North Dakota State University campus after students complained of a strong odor and burning eyes.
Firefighters on Sunday determined the source of the odor to be fumes that were created when a faculty member treated a material with acid. A vent hood had been inadvertently closed, automatically shutting off a ventilation fan.
Firefighters say the fumes were at a level that was irritating but not poisonous. Dolve Hall was aired out and later returned to normal.
