Turkey at large in a Minnesota neighborhood

(WDAY TV) - Thanksgiving is over, but a turkey on the loose in Minnesota is stirring up a lot of talk. The wayward bird has taken over an intersection in Brooklyn Park.

People had complained. However, they now consider the wild turkey a mascot for the neighborhood. They call him "Tom" or "Turk" and he likes to chase cars down the street.

Some people are so attached to the bird they're trying to convince city leaders to let him stay.

"We had reports of kids out in the street chasing the turkey, wanting to pet the turkey, which again is a pretty dangerous situation."

"He's kind of a fugitive from the law, because I watched the cops try to catch him and they can't."

"In the traffic he's a bad boy, but otherwise he's good."

A trap set out last week disappeared and homeowners aren't cooperating with the trapper. If the turkey is caught, he'll be given to the DNR.
