Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Tonight, families are traveling, making plans to spend the next couple of days with loved ones during this Thanksgiving holiday. But many are choosing to spend time with those they don't even know. At Churches United in Moorhead, the shelter is trying to find room for all the volunteers who want to help this weekend.

At Churches United, there is home cooking on this day before the holiday. 62-people called the shelter home last night. Tomorrow volunteers will help feed them all. The good news, there are more people calling in, wanting to come in to serve than ever before.

Annette Granger is staying at churches untied here with her 14-year old son Quentin and grand-daughter Korianna, their first time out of a house and during a holiday.

Volunteers will swamp Churches United the next three days. Families, service groups, friends coming in groups, all wanting to turn thanksgiving into something more than a feast.

Last night, Churches United was so full; it had only two beds open.
