(WDAY TV) - People who've lost a loved one to suicide are coping by being with others. It's national Survivors of Suicide Day.

Survivors of suicide are coming together all over the world today. People in the area met here on Concordia's campus for an hour and a half video. In more than 20 countries survivors will all be watching the video at the same time.

The event began back in 1999 and continues to grow, this year there are more than 200 host sites in the U.S. and 7 in North Dakota. People with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention say survivors of suicide are anyone who is left grieving, hurting, and in shock from losing a close person in their life. They say 60% of Americans will be touched by suicide.

“I think our hope is that people will be able to connect with one another and to understand that they're not alone in their loss.”

People can also watch the video over the internet at www.afsp.org. It will be posted until next years clip.
