NDSU Falls in Summit Final
It was supposed to be a formality for NDSU at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. Instead, the Bison lost the championship match of the Summit League Volleyball Tournament to IPFW and now have to hope for an NCAA berth.By: Dom Izzo, WDAY
FARGO- The Bison volleyball team had it's dream run ended Saturday night at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse in the championship match of the Summit League Tournament, 3-2 to IPFW. NDSU had not lost a match to a conference opponent in over two years, the last time they lost was to the Mastodons.
NDSU is denied the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and with a record of 23-4, now has to hope that is good enough to receive an at-large bid.
The Bison fell behind two sets to none before rallying to force a fifth and deciding set, but IPFW was relentless.
The NCAA selection show is next Sunday, the 29th.
