GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The attorney for a Grand Forks woman accused of broadcasting pornography from the window of her home near an elementary school and assaulting a police officer is seeking a trial outside of Grand Forks County.
Ted Sandberg says the allegations against 37-year-old Nicole Altendorf are so sensational that it is unlikely she could get a fair trial locally.
Prosecutor Jason McCarthy wants to keep the trial in Grand Forks County. A hearing is set for Dec. 3.
Altendorf faces three felony charges in the Oct. 16 incident: simple assault of a police officer, contact by bodily fluids and preventing arrest. She also faces misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sandberg says Altendorf will plead not guilty on Nov. 25. She faces more than 16 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
