Parents give feedback

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - In a series of meetings hosted by the Board of Education, different groups of people are being brought in to offer feedback, giving members an idea about the future of Fargo Public Schools. Today, it was parents turn to give input.

The district's strategic plan outlines seven goals, like academic performance, communication and citizenship. Today, board members hope parents can let them know if these goals are pointing the district in the right direction.

Parents are answering questions like, if these are the right goals, if any should be eliminated, and if more should be added. They're also talking about whether the district should have a standard diploma or different diplomas for students who complete more difficult courses.

Parents say it's important to be engaged with the district, and to keep an eye on leaders, to make sure their kids have the best educational opportunities.

“Really have to make sure that everything is being kept on track, and Fargo Public Schools does a fantastic job, but you can always make sure there are improvements and make sure there are benchmarks.”

Tomorrow night, the board will host another meeting, this time with teachers. It's from 5 to 6 at the district office.
