GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The National Weather Service says late-fall rains in the Red River Valley have kept groundwater conditions overly wet heading into the winter, which could affect spring flooding.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The National Weather Service says late-fall rains in the Red River Valley have kept groundwater conditions overly wet heading into the winter, which could affect spring flooding.
Forecasters say topsoil and subsoil conditions are similar to those in the fall of 2008. Last spring, parts of the valley saw record flooding.
The weather service says the excess water this fall is a worry but that expected warmer and somewhat drier conditions over the winter could reduce the flood threat next spring.
