Missing pilot found

Investigators were starting to reconstruct a tour bus accident that killed two people and injured 21 in southern Minnesota, seeking answers to what caused the driver to swerve off a clear, dry interstate freeway and roll the bus into a ditch.

MAHNOMEN, Minn. (AP) — The body of a pilot has been recovered from the wreckage of his small plane in Clearwater County.

Thirty-two-year-old Andrew Lindberg was found Wednesday with his Piper Cherokee in a remote, wooded area on the White Earth Indian Reservation near Mahnomen.

Lindberg was a new pilot who was flying from Lakeville to Hallock Friday night to go deer hunting with his father and others.

Authorities say the last contact he made was a text message from his cell phone to his father, who was waiting at the Hallock airport, saying he was flying over Staples, Minn.

The Civil Air Patrol launched an extensive search for the missing pilot. CAP officials say there were clouds and some rain the night the plane went down.
