Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A fascinating new book has just been released about North Dakota. It doesn't feature the badlands or prairie potholes, but women who have changed the communities across this state. It is called Beautiful Women of North Dakota and this weekend at Moorhead’s Rourke Gallery, 22 of them from across the state featured in the book will come to Fargo-Moorhead for a star studded affair.

Christine Finneman of Golva North Dakota not only raised 11 children. She's made quilts for every newborn in town. Christine Peterson of Bowman is like her husband, preparing for deployment, a hard working nurse practitioner.

Just two of the 22 beautiful women featured in the just released book beautiful women of North Dakota. Photographer Billy Black and his wife and writer Chris Linnares dreamed up this idea. Traveling the state, visiting the homes of women beautiful inside and out who have made a difference in our world whether it is looking beyond disability or age.

The book and soon to be released documentary put aside all we have been taught about physical beauty, instead, focusing on what these women have accomplished. The lives they have touched.

Prairie Rose of Fargo is on page two. Some are famous, others just successful at home and in a state where we seldom like to brag, a book now documents its homegrown beauty.

The 22-women will be honored at private red carpet ceremony Saturday night. The public is invited to the Rourke Sunday for a two o’clock program.
