Eating healthy and being active is paying off for Eastwood Elementary School.

West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Eating healthy and being active is paying off for Eastwood Elementary School. Today, the USDA presented the West Fargo students with a gold medal for being a healthy school.

To achieve the medal, the school made changes to their school lunches and got kids more physically active. That includes adding more of the dark green and bright orange fruits and vegetables at lunch time.

“Anything we can do when we catch them young and be good role models will help them, help parents understand and make decisions too and understand that there are good resources available to them and people willing to help too.”

Eastwood is one of only four elementary schools in North Dakota to receive this award.
