(WDAY Sports) - Monday night means our weekly honor roll segment of the best plays from the gridiron and this week, a little state championship flavor.

In the AA title tilt, Shanley had an ultra clutch drive in the final 2 minutes. It culminated in this Myles Montplaisir TD pass to Josh Rodenbiker with 8 seconds left. That play sent the game into overtime.

In OT, on 4th down and needing to score to extend the game, Devils Lake works some magic; the pass is tipped, right into the hands of Brandon Myhre. But then it was time for the Shanley "D" to make some magic, stopping the Firebirds on the 2-point conversion attempt, giving the Deacons their first state football championship since 1983.

It was one of the most entertaining title games in Dakota Bowl history and the first overtime finish!

Speaking of huge 2-point conversions, in the Minnesota AA state quarterfinals, Hawley needing two to send the game into overtime against Moose Lake, Taylor Harms looks like he's done for, but at the last instant pitches to Nate Mattson to keep the game alive.

And back to titles, Hankinson, led by their quarterback, Alex Althoff, who had 183 total yards and 4 touchdowns, won its first North Dakota 9-man state title since 1991 with a win over Parshall. The Pirates won their final 9 games after going 4-and-4 and missing the playoffs the previous year.
