Spartans advance to the state tournament after big win

(WDAY Sports) - More proof tonight that it's not how you start, its how you finish. The Fargo North volleyball team is getting ready for the state tournament, when the odds were that they'd be getting ready for basketball season about now.

The Spartans knocked off Shanley in a state qualifier match Saturday afternoon, the same Deacon squad that went 12-2 in the conference season.

“The girls feel great about it we knew it would be a battle, we knew there would be a team or two that probably should be going to state that won't be and it's just the way it works out we're obviously happy to be practicing for 3 more days.”

“It's a good feeling we knew we could do it and we needed to have everybody on at the same time and we were, so it worked out great.”

The Spartans play Bismarck in the quarterfinals. North is 0-3 this season against Bismarck.
