Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY Sports) - College football programs across the country are hitting full speed in their recruiting efforts, but the Dragons continue to be slowed down by their head coaching situation. Damon Tomeo was placed on administrative leave October 9th following what the school calls "an incident" that remains undisclosed.

Athletic Director Doug Peters says the school is working through a resolution process outlined by the Minnesota Teachers Union and does not know when it will be resolved. He says he's told acting Coach Joel Beard to carry on in recruiting and player development as if he'll be the guy for the rest of his career.

Peters says no players have asked to be released from their scholarships. He would not comment when I asked him if there were any scenarios under which Tomeo could return.

People close to the program tell us that no one on campus expects him to return. Tomeo told me late this afternoon that he's disappointed the process has taken so long to play out and that he misses the interaction with players and coaches.
