(WDAY TV) - In the wake of the hair pull and punch that captured the country's attention, Concordia College is talking about equality in sports. The women's soccer team has been discussing the incident for days.

Coaches and players say they wonder if people are more concerned about the violence or being the act was done by a female. This player from New Mexico was suspended after getting violent with an opponent.

Concordia leaders say she was out of line and they don't condone violence like this in sports.

"There have been many incidents you know equal or greater than this and the reaction for those hasn't been near what this one has been."

"When you step on the field, you're a representative of your school, of your team, as a woman athlete, you're a representative of that, so I think in that way, it's a little bit disappointing."

Concordia follows MIAC and NCAA rules that restrict behavior like that. Officials say the college has never had any similar incidents.
