Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A Fargo church is embracing the ELCA's historic decision to allow homosexual pastors in open relationships. St. John Lutheran Church is opening its doors to everyone, no matter their sexual preference.

Pastor Ron Bock says not everyone in the congregation agrees. Some flat out are against it. He says they've stuck together and worked through it in a mature manner. Parishioners say it's not about increasing numbers, but doing what's right.

“At the end of the day we go home knowing that we are accepted as a child of God. The issue of sexuality has less importance. I believe for this church than it does for others churches in the Fargo-Moorhead area".

"I'm proud of this congregation. I'm proud of these people for being willing to deal with hard issues even if they don't agree and then come sit next to each other in the pew that's what it's about."

Three of Fargo's largest Lutheran churches have suspended funding to the ELCA because of the vote.
