Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's not getting much cheaper these days to keep your home warm this winter and everyone could afford some cost savings. Well, now there's a new high-tech way to track your home energy costs which could save you a few bucks.

Saving money on your home energy is now just a click of your computer mouse away and it's all thanks to a North Dakota native. Today at Fargo’s Microsoft campus was a national launch of new software, a product that's expected to a make a significant boost to your bottom line.

It's called Microsoft Hohm, a tracking and monitoring system for your home energy costs and usage. North Dakota native Troy Batterberry created the idea after getting frustrated with his high energy bills.

The free software can categorize where your energy is being used, compare those costs to other energy users, and recommend ways to cut your costs.

Right now, Microsoft hohm includes a tracking of your electric, gas and propane use and soon the company hopes to add water. To find this new software online, you can just head to our website wday.com. We've set up a link for you under Easy Link.
