Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Some college students working three jobs say they are still drowning in debt. MSUM students shared their stories with U.S. Senator Al Franken.
All of them work, some 40 hours a week, but some will graduate with more than 40-thousand dollars of debt.
The average graduating MSUM student has 27-thousand dollars in debt. One student even put off marriage to his fiance because she was getting better financial aid as a single mom than a wife.
“It’d be nice to be able to go to school full-time, and have that be your full-time focus.”
Franken supports a bill that will increase low interest loans and grants and expand loan forgiveness, especially in high need areas like medical work in underserved regions. The bill passed already passed in the house.
