Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Students at Oak Grove took time out today to honor area heroes in a real life history lesson. They held a Veterans Day program in the Scheels Center for the Performing Arts that included some patriotic music from the concert band.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Gregory Remus was the featured speaker. He served for more than 22 years including three tours in Germany. Students invited all veterans to come and encouraged them to wear their uniforms.

“I think that America’s free because of its veterans and the freedoms which we enjoy as citizens of this great country are because of our veterans.”

Students also talked about what Veterans Day means to them, some who have family members who are serving or have served.
