Underwood, Minn. (WDAY TV) - An Underwood, Minnesota family is hoping other pet owners can learn from a recent tragedy. Marie Jacobson says a few days ago her French bulldog named Art ate some grapes and later died from them.

Vets say a handful of grapes can make a dog quite ill and over time the kidneys get so damaged the dog can go into renal failure and die.

“It is very shocking. I was exploring the internet and it felt like I had been shot in the heart because I thought oh my God I did that.”

Most breeds can get sick from eating grapes or raisins and while they may not show symptoms right away, the kidneys can still get damaged.
