The Minnesota DNR says they seized an unprecedented number of firearms last weekend as they investigated dozens of deer baiting cases, many in our area.
(WDAY TV) - The Minnesota DNR says they seized an unprecedented number of firearms last weekend as they investigated dozens of deer baiting cases, many in our area.
In district 1, including Roseau, Baudette and Thief River Falls, conservation officers seized 25 firearms in 28 baiting cases. Baiters are typically fined $385 dollars.
If convicted, the hunters will also lose those guns. DNR officers say it's definitely a spike in illegal baiting, adding that many of their investigations actually start with tips from other hunters.
