(WDAY TV) - Speaking with veterans, you know a war zone can be a horrible place to be, but some gamers are calling those situations fun as they experience them through a new video game. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II at times, players must murder civilians in public places. Has the gaming industry gone too far this time?
James Dravitz is traveling through modern day war zones, hunting the enemy, setting off bombs and saving hostages, all while sitting in his living room.
This grad student says Call of Duty is more realistic than your ordinary videogame and action packed. He says the game also involves protecting U-S territory and teamwork with other military members.
But after fighting and killing his way through all of the levels, some taking place in our nation's capitol, even he admits some parts go a little overboard.
This mission takes place in an airport. The goal is to gain the trust of terrorists. To do that, the player has to do things we'd rather not show you.
“Realistic, people crawling, at first a little stunned, but then I was like whoa that's really cool.”
This enlisting army soldier says the Call of Duty games can be fun, but also send a wrong message. Some veterans say after what they've seen on a real battle field, they would never want their kids or grandkids to play the game.
So while some get in the game, others will wait for a real-life call of duty before heading to battle. The game is rated mature. You can change its settings to avoid some of the more graphic material.
