Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Fargo school leaders believe they have busted a rare situation involving a fight club and high schoolers. To make matters worse, students videotaped the fights then posted them online.
School leaders caught some students at south campus two in the act of a so called fight club. This comes ten years after the movie with the same name. This hasn't been an ordinary week for Assistant Principal Lenny Ohlhauser.
“We’ve had a couple incidents where we've had a group gathering to watch a fight.”
In recent days, Wednesday the latest, ninth graders took to bathrooms and locker rooms to fight in front of about 20 others.
“Wherever staff members aren't is where they try and get together to do this.”
The fights, similar to this fight club, were videotaped then put online, reportedly Youtube and Facebook.
“It was our student body; no other students were coming in that were no part of our school.”
Leaders found out about the fights, mainly involving pushing, before some even started from Facebook and other students.
“More has been stated what was going to happen than actually did.”
Staff then interviewed students and announced to the school fights will not be tolerated. They are now monitoring halls between classes and supervising or locking problem areas.
“We want to make sure that these things aren't happening and that's probably one of the best ways to do it is to let them know that we know.”
School leaders talked with the involved students but won't say how or if they were punished. We tried to find the videos online to no avail. Police and district officials declined to go on camera, calling this an open investigation.
