Rural transit fares may increase

(WDAY TV) - If you ride on the Clay County Rural Transit Bus, your ticket price may be going up at the first of the new year.

CCRT's Coordinator says she is proposing a rate increase for some of the routes. The commuter routes and daily rides would go up two dollars each way or five dollars for people who hold monthly passes.

The local Dial-A-Rides would stay at the same price. CCRT's Coordinator says the rate increase will help the organization make up for some money lost.

“When the fuel cost was high last year, we didn't increase our rates at all, to try and maintain our rider ship. And we feel that at this time, it's still a minimal fee, it's still going to be cost effective.”

The increase will be proposed to the Clay County Commission in December.
