Trojans head to the section final for the first time in 3 decades

(WDAY TV) - Could a state championship be in the future for the Barnesville High School football team? Very possible.

The Trojans are ranked fourth in the state class a poll at a perfect 10-0. They take on Browerville in the section final in the Fargodome at three.

The Trojans haven't made the state tournament since 1978, but players, coaches, and fans believe that will all change today.

“There are kids on the team that it was their dad that went the last time 1978 that's again 31 years ago or so it's been huge the community has been unbelievable. We have people that are going to games that I haven’t heard of going to games before it's just the town has kinda going strong.”

“This hasn't been much of a football town the last few years and we're starting to rebuild that we're building a new team and making this a football town again.”

Tomorrow's opponent Browerville has only lost one game to Royalton, who the Trojans beat last week in the semis.
