West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A 12-year old from West Fargo has figured out a natural way to power a clock and calculator, using apples.

Seventh grader Rit Bezbaruah (bezbar-o) came up with the idea at the tender age of 10, for a fifth grade project.

Using wires, Rit hooked up apples underneath the clock and calculator, and then connected them to nails on the back end of the box, and the power flows.

He's used potatoes, grapes, lemons, limes and oranges for the experiment, but says green apples are the best.
