Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Family members of the murdered Fargo dentist got their first look inside the scene of the crime. Until today, it had been blocked off as investigators gathered evidence at the condo. 49-year old Philip Gatusso was found dead there Monday night.
His relatives went into the home to get clothes for Philip's funeral and other belongings for his three year old daughter, Kennedy. Family say it was hard to bear going into the home and that there were things missing but they wouldn't elaborate.
“I don't think it's a matter of getting a look, it's a matter of getting whatever necessities they may need out of there for the care of the child, and for his family, eventually, someone has to take over his estate and matters and at some point that transition begins.”
Dahle says they're losing hope of locating Gatusso's missing silver Porsche and the dark, pickup truck with a trailer bed, seen pulling it out of the area. You're still asked to call police if you see any silver Porsche or that truck.
For the first time tonight we got a chance to hear from Philip Gatusso's family and learn more about their loved one so brutally killed. Philip Gattuso's brother spoke with WDAY. He says he's still in shock about this unthinkable crime.
Roy Gatusso is giving more insight into his brother's life. He calls Philip a wonderful father who cared deeply for his family, a man who loved golf, cards, and taking his daughter to the park.
Holding back tears, Roy Gatusso sits in front of news cameras still in shock and disbelief over the murder of his beloved brother. Roy is still looking for answers. He's met with police once, but they haven't told him much more than we already know.
Roy clears up some confusion about the day of the murder. He says Philip had sold his practice, didn't have a regular schedule, and appeared not to have an appointment that day.
For Roy, his brother's death seems unreal. He says Philip didn't have a checkered past, led a normal life, and had no drug or money problems.
As for who could have done such a heinous crime, Roy has no idea. He says he's brother always joked about how safe Fargo is. Philip Gatusso's body has been sent back to Louisiana. There will be a funeral there Wednesday.
In Fargo, a memorial service will be held next weekend. It is scheduled for Saturday November 7th at Bethel Evangelical. The service will begin at two in the afternoon.
