West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - West Fargo's Mayor is throwing his support toward a Red River diversion west of the city. This comes after a controversial vote by the Dilworth City Council opposing a diversion near that town.
Cass County's Joint Watershed Board is looking at flood control. One option is a diversion about a mile and a half west of West Fargo. Mayor Rich Mattern is for this plan as are many others because it would allow for growth?
More opposition seems to be for a different option tying into the Sheyenne diversion. Mattern says any project is not going to be easy to build and will take a long time. He calls a goal of ten years, ambitious.
The cost of diversion is expected to be between one billion and 1.4 billion dollars.
