Detroit Lakes, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A bizarre end to a jury trial in Detroit Lakes, a judge has declared a mistrial in Becker County on a week long case involving stolen skid-steer loaders.

Bobby John Anttila was a defendant in a jury trial where he faced charges involving the theft of Bobcat skid steers, but Judge Peter Irvine abruptly ended the trial after learning a prosecution witness for Becker County was contacted by Defense Attorney Zenas Baer and told he could face charges if he appeared and testified at the trial because of the statute of limitations.

Judge Irvine called the defense attorney's actions inappropriate conduct. A new trial will be scheduled.
