Public input sought for Becker County land for sale

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (WDAY TV) - An upcoming land sale in Detroit Lakes has pitted some environmentalists against Becker County officials. The county is going to be selling off 482 acres of tax-forfeited land November 20th. It will be one of the largest Becker County land sales which is held every other year.

Some are protesting the sale of the land, saying there has not been a hearing or enough public input on the issue. Some of the land to be sold is public and those opposed to the sale say once the land is sold, there is little chance of the public using it again.

Some of the proceeds from the land sale will go to improving recreational trails in Becker County.
