Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Vector Control is celebrating a successful summer, but already making plans to improve in the future, including the arrival of a new mosquito.

Today at a Vector Control board meeting, Director Ben Prather took the board through a summary of this past summer and what needs to be done to get better next year.

He says the Japanese Rock Pool mosquito is making its way closer to the area, showing up in the Twin Cities area and Sioux Falls South Dakota.

“It's been on our radar for the last year or so. I’ve been keeping pretty good attention on what they're experiencing.”

The Rock Pool mosquito is known to carry the West Nile virus.
