MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A former postmaster in the Grenora post office has been sentenced to probation for failing to report money made from retail postal sales and taking the money for personal use.

Elaine Esterby pleaded guilty in July to a federal charge of misappropriation of postal funds. Court documents say she took nearly $2,800 between November 2007 and August 2008.

U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland sentenced Esterby to one year of probation. The plea agreement says Esterby has returned the money.
