Fergus Falls, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A new development in the hockey arena controversy in Fergus Falls. Resident John Strauch has started a petition drive to remove the council member representing his ward.
Strauch and others are upset the city has dedicated close to 5-million dollars to a planned hockey arena in town. Strauch wants to collect names for a petition that would urge a recall for council member Jo Ellen Thacker.
“We just feel they need to contact us and get more input from the citizens before they make such a major decision on our money.”
Council member Jo Ellen Thacker told WDAY 6 News today that Strauch is misrepresenting her work on this issue. She says there were meetings where the public was able to voice opinions about the arena and use of public money for it.
