Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Fargo Civic center rocked; not for a basketball game or concert, but a robot competition! Fans came for the 3rd year to cheer on their school's robot.

It's for the Bison Best Robot Competition. Student groups from across the area build robots to compete in two competitions, an interview process and display of the robot, then the robot in action in the field competition.

People with the event say it's an engineering, math, and science competition with a sports-like atmosphere.

"Starts them thinking along the path of them applying math and science in real lives and for potential careers, so the earlier and more often we can get students involved in engineering science and math the better off were going to be."

A team from Watertown won today, but the highest award went to Climax-Shelly for its robot Octavius.
