JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a runaway school bus caused about $6,000 in damage to an office building in Jamestown.
The bus rolled into the Otter Tail Power Co., building shortly after 8 a.m., Wednesday. No one was hurt.
The driver said he parked the bus by the Jamestown Middle School, set the parking brake and went into the school. He said he came out to find the bus rolling down the street and fell down when he tried to stop it.
Jamestown Police Officer Kent Warren said the bus dragged a yield sign across the street before running into the south side of the Otter Tail building.
Otter Tail manager Denny Ellefson was in his office when the back of the bus struck it. He said it was "a pretty big boom."
Warren said mud apparently got stuck in the parking brake mechanism.
