(WDAY TV) - Clay County could soon be home to a new wildlife management area. Today, commissioners gave their approval to the sale of 14 hundred acres to the Minnesota DNR.

The land is between Glyndon and Felton and is a part of the Clay County refuge. Two separate owners are selling the land. Once sold, the land will then be open to the public for hunting and recreation.

Despite the commission approving the sale, one commissioner expressed his concern about the loss of potential Ag land.

“You hate to see acres and acres and acres of productive land, or in this case not necessarily productive land keeps disappearing.”

The DNR does still pay taxes to the county on the land. A sale prize is not being disclosed until sale the is final
