Drayton sex offender sentenced again

CAVALIER, N.D. (AP) — A Drayton man sentenced earlier this fall to 30 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a child and possessing child pornography will not see more time behind bars on a similar state charge.

Laurence Pelletier Jr. pleaded guilty to gross sexual imposition in state court on Wednesday and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, to be served at the same time as his federal sentence.

Pelletier was sentenced in federal court in Fargo on Sept. 18.

Authorities said a 7-year-old girl reported being molested by Pelletier and a search of his computers found child pornography, including an image produced by him that involved a 15-month-old child.
