ND board accepts Chapman resignation

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's Board of Higher Education has accepted the resignation of North Dakota State University President Joseph Chapman.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's Board of Higher Education has accepted the resignation of North Dakota State University President Joseph Chapman.

Thursday's vote was 7-0. Board President Richie Smith said the resignation was accepted with regret.

Board member Mike Haugen said Chapman did an outstanding job as NDSU's president and that it was unfortunate his work was overshadowed by controversy about the cost of a new house for the NDSU president and Chapman's own spending.

The 67-year-old Chapman submitted his resignation Wednesday, saying it will take effect in January.
