Detroit Lakes couple celebrate major milestone

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (WDAY TV) - An impressive mark for a Detroit Lakes couple who got married when gas prices were just 10 cents a gallon and a loaf of bread was even cheaper!
Friends and family celebrated 75 years of marriage. Vernon and Edna Benson say things have changed a lot since 1934.
The two took off to Bemidji to marry. The couple raised three children near Waubun in a home Vernon built. Edna says love, devotion, and family kept them strong for this long.
