GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — There's no french fry record in Grand Forks this year.
Around 4,200 pounds of fries were eaten Thursday in a french fry feed that's part of the annual Potato Bowl to recognize the potato industry.
Potato processor J.R. Simplot Co. sponsors the feed. Manager Scott Gottberg said consumption this year fell about 690 pounds short of the record set last year, in part because chilly temperatures reduced turnout to about 5,000 people.
